Oliver Osborne

Oliver Osborne constructs deadpan juxtapositions. His large works take the form either of single panels, diptychs or multiple stretchers amassed together into rectangular shapes on the wall. Working with painting, collage and screen-printing he uses abstract and figurative painting in combination with images sourced from European language textbooks. Osborne is interested in clarity and straightforwardness. This holds not only for the pared down lines used ­– whether presenting individual forms or in terms of the very modes of painting being employed, there is a will at work to lay something out as clearly as possible.

Oliver Osborne, born 1985, is a Scottish artist based in London. He is a graduate of the Royal Academy and Chelsea College of Art. Selected solo exhibitions include Anna at Vilma Gold in London (2013), Otto at Frutta in Rome and Buy a good bed and good shoes, if you are not in one you are in the other at Peles Empire in London (2010).
