Larissa Sansour

Larissa Sansour, born 1973, is a Palestinian artist based in London. Her work is interdisciplinary, immersed in the current political dialogue and utilises video, photography, installation, the book form and the internet. Central to her work is the tug and pull between fiction and reality, addressing social tensions through the narrative tropes of science fiction and myth.

Selected solo exhibitions include Nation Estate at the Turku Art Museum in Finland (2013) and the Galerie Anne de Villepoix in Paris (2012), Science Faction at Lawrie Shabibi in Dubai (2013), Living the High Life at the Photographic Center in Copenhagen (2012) and Ex-terrestrial at Kulturhuset in Stockholm (2010). Selected group shows include The Sensory War: 1914-2014 at Manchester Art Gallery (2014),The Shadows Took Shape at the Studio Museum in Harlem, New York (2013), Palestine at the Contemporary Arts Centre of South Australia in Adelaide (2013), Alienation at the Maraya Arts Centre in Sharjah (2012), Somehow, somewhat in the middle of things at Liefhertje en De Grote Witte Reus in The Hague (2012), the Videonale at Kunstmuseum Bonn (2011), What Is Contemporary Art? at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Roskilde (2011) and Rage and Resistance at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin (2010). Sansour’s work has also been featured in the biennials of Istanbul, Busan and Liverpool.
